In 1999, Rutledge Hill Press published a book of Marty's photographs called Pilgrims: sinners, saints and prophets. The book sold out its first printing within two weeks. The book also features stories and prose written by Marty. | |
In 2007, Marty self-published Country Music: The Masters, featuring more than 300 pages of color and black and white photographs of the great country music performers, past and present, Marty has taken over the years. Chicago's Source Books released the book on November 11, 2008. The book includes an audio CD and video featuring Marty's tribute to Johnny Cash: "Dark Bird." | |

Plays |
Marty wrote the music and lyrics for the play "Moon Shine!". The musical comedy was written by Mary Willard and is about three brothers who will inherit a large sum of money from their father provided they find three women to marry that are approved by the boys' mother (1997). The play, starring Mary's husband Fred, finally opened at the Grove Theater in Upland, California running from May 1 - 23, 2004. The play also opened in Chicago in August 2007. |
