"I am honored to be a Mississippi boy. I am honored to stand amongst the greats of Mississippi with my name right there," exclaimed Marty Stuart.

That's how the opening ceremony started for the unveiling of Marty Stuart's very own star on the Mississippi Arts and Entertainment Center's walk of fame.

Marty Stuart: a four time Grammy award winner, a crowd pleaser, and now one of the few with a star on the Mississippi Arts and Entertainment Center's Walk of Fame in Meridian.

The Sparkle and Twang exhibit takes visitors on a musical odyssey through Stuart's eyes. Those who helped bring the exhibit to Meridian, say it will awaken your artistic senses.

"This event is bringing back the cultural activities that this town has been enjoying for many, many years," says Betty Lou Jones, the President of the Jimmie Rodgers Foundation.

The exhibit has been through major cities like Cleveland and Los Angeles. Stuart is glad to bring it home.

"It is a Mississippi product, so it's wonderful to get to bring it back home and share it with friends and family,' says Stuart.

"The memorabilia inside the MSU Riley Center represents more than 40 years behind classic greats of country, rock, gospel, and bluegrass music. Out of all of these pieces of history, there is one that stands out for Stuart.

Actually, make that two. It was hard for Stuart to narrow it down to one.

"Well it all started with a little yellow guitar right there," remembers Stuart. "There is also the brown suit that I was wearing and the shirt and tie and the case when I got off the bus in Nashville, Labor Day weekend 1972. I was 13 years old. I was wearing that suit. It was bought here in Meridian and it comes back home to the very place it was bought."

And now that it's here, Stuart wants everyone to dive in.

"It's like a treasure chess that is open."

And it's been open by Marty Stuart himself.
