Some country musicians are taking their show on the road and traveling to Neshoba County this summer.

Neshoba County native Marty Stuart and his wife Connie Smith, along with "The Fabulous Superlatives," will perform at the Ellis Theater in downtown Philadelphia in late June. The performance will be recorded for the group's television show that airs on RFD TV.

Stuart tells Newscenter 11 he has not decided which songs he will perform at his June 28th performance in Philadelphia. He says he'll probably do that the day before. The focus now has been on preparing to shoot his cable show in the Ellis Theater.

"I've never taken the television show on the road," Stuart points out. "This is our 130th episode. This is the first time we've ever put it in boxes and taken it on the road. Tractor trailer trucks and vans and there's been a lot of pre-production. About two months worth of pre-production up in Nashville."

Meanwhile, Stuart says there is nothing like hometown and statewide support, which makes coming home even more special, saying there is no place on earth that can come close to touching Mississippi when it comes to musical creativity.

"So, to get to bring some of that living, breathing stuff back to Neshoba County," Stuart says. "That's good, that's good medicine."

He says he is glad to see steps being taken so that central Mississippi has a more active role in the performing arts industry with the new arts and entertainment facility coming to Meridian. Stuart says planning is also underway in Philadelphia.

Tickets for the 8 p.m. performance on June 28th can be purchased at the Train Depot in Philadelphia. For more information, call Philadelphia Main Street at 601-656-1000.
