We told you that Billy Bob Thornton and actress girlfriend Angelina Jolie (Girl, Interrupted) were spotted last week being quite cuddly at Granite Falls.

Looks like they stayed in Nashville through the weekend, and rumors were flying that the two got married here, though I've had no confirmation of this. Those rumors may have started because of recent media reports saying the two are engaged.

I made a call to the folks in the Davidson County marriage licenses office, but they hadn't seen the happy couple at all.

Even if they didn't get married, seems Billy Bob and Angelina had a fabulous time in town.

Billy Bob's buddy Marty Stuart pulled together an all-star pickin' party at an old country store in Goodlettsville.

Among the pickers: bluegrass legends Earl Scruggs, Mac Wiseman, famed producer Cowboy Jack Clement, Jason Carter of the Del McCoury Band and Randy Scruggs and a bunch of Marty's friends called the Tennessee Mafia Jug Band.

Billy Bob earlier in the week visited Earl Scruggs because, some 20 or so years ago, Billy Bob was in a band that opened for the Earl Scruggs Review in Arkansas.

Billy Bob always remembered that concert, and he wanted to give him a shout.

Remember, people, there's always a Nashville connection.
