| Marty Stuart eloped with his long-time girlfriend, Opry star Connie Smith, on July 8 in Pine Ridge South Dakota. The 38-year-old groom and 55-year-old bride exchanged vows in a quick, quiet and very private ceremony, which prompted Prime Time Country's Gary Chapman to joke, "The bride wore something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and the groom wore something sparkly, something bright, something sequined, something tight."
Although the couple's friends were pleased with the union--many stating that Connie was probably the only woman who could "tame ol' Marty"--not everyone was happy about the marriage. In fact, Marty said that a "tiny little girl" dressed in a cowgirl garb right down to her "boots and fringe" approached him and asked if it was true that he was married. When he answered, "Yes, I am," the precious little thing said, "SH*T!" and marched off in a huff.
