It was officially Marty Stuart Day in his hometown of Philadelphia, Mississippi.

A new black mayor Jim Young, read the proclamation in the city once known as the place where "Mississippi Burning" took place.

"The only reason I left is I got a job when I was a kid. But, it's a wonderful thing to know where you are from, and who you come from, and that's home. Philadelphia, Mississippi has always been home and I'm proud of it," said Stuart.

They dedicated a room to his early career, before he became a country music super star, at the local musuem and put up a marker on a road named for him.
