An all-star lineup of country artists is currently recording versions of Bristol Sessions songs for a tribute CD called Orthophonic Joy: The Bristol Sessions Revisited. The release is set for October 2014.

Vince Gill, Emmylou Harris, Dolly Parton and Marty Stuart have already recorded songs originally recorded during the 1927 Bristol Sessions recordings, dubbed the "big bang" of commercial country music. The new recording is expected to be released later this year, according to officials of the Birthplace of Country Music and the Tennessee and Virginia departments of tourism.

The project was announced this afternoon during a program at the Ford Theater of the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Stuart, a long-time proponent of traditional country music and former Johnny Cash band member, is among artists scheduled to perform this afternoon.

Moments ago, Stuart said: "The Bristol Sessions were an empowering force. They feed my heart; they feed my direction."
