The beauty of the RiverCity Bluegrass Festival is the ecumenical way it throws its arms around more than just bluegrass. This year the event is rife with a broad swath of Americana, including folk picking, swing, gospel, country, even some gypsy jazz, all helping to fill out a bluegrass-thick festival. Some don't-miss acts on the bill: Marty Stuart was a child prodigy on nearly anything with strings who grew quickly into a country music superstar. He hasn't forgotten his roots, however, and with the help of his band the Fabulous Superlatives, he plays a healthy mix of country, bluegrass and gospel. By Don Campbell |
