Marty Stuart seemed like just another slick little picker when he first started making a name for himself in Nashville, the kind of guy who might favor image over substance, but Stuart has become a champion of country music's past and is doing what he can to move it forward intact.
He's still a slick little picker, one of the best in the business, and Wednesday night Stuart will play host to his 10th annual Late Night Jam at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. He'll be accompanied by his Fabulous Superlatives band, and they'll be joined by guests Dolly Parton, Mel Tillis, Doug Kershaw, The Quebe Sisters Band, Connie Smith and a few more surprises.
