Smith, Stuart Concert Creating Big Buzz

Well the accolades keep coming relating to the downtown arts and entertainment district, the Crighton Theatre and the Montgomery County Performing Arts Society show featuring Suzy Bogguss which got mentioned by a Houston writer who will be at the Crighton Saturday night.

Last week another Houston publication rated the Marty Stuart/Connie Smith Sounds of Texas concert No. 8 on their top 10 list of shows big and small coming to Houston in 2012.

What a coup this show is! Dolly Parton said “There are three great female singers, Barbra Streisand, Connie Smith and Linda Ronstadt. The rest of us are just pretending!”

Marty Stuart at a recent show in Austin at the One World Theatre bragged on Conroe, the Crighton Theatre, the Sounds of Texas Music Series and the Texian Soldier and Lone Star Flag Park. Last week Craig Campobella spent a week in Nashville at Marty Stuart’s home. Craig is doing a bronze of Marty to be sold at the Sounds of Texas Music Series shows. This piece will be the seventh Craig has created for the popular series. While taping Marty Stuart’s popular show on RFD Network, Marty introduced Craig and put the cameras on him. He then began to brag on our favorite sculptor and Conroe in general with emphasis on the Texian Soldier and Lone Star Flag Park. Look for the show to air in March. You can tell Marty Stuart loves Conroe and I feel Conroe loves him back. He has become a one-man Chamber of Commerce for our great city. I can’t wait until April 7 when Marty and his wife Connie Smith come to town!
