Country's Hot Hunkabillies....And They're All Bachelors |
This appeared in Country Weekly - September 5, 1995 |
First there were the honky tonkers. Then came the rockabillies. Today's hot, young country has a new generation of male stars--we call them The Hunkabillies.
True, they make wonderful music, but John Michael Montgomery, Dwight Yoakam, Collin Raye Lee Roy Parnell and other country hunks are getting rave reviews from women across the country for more than their sounds. Judging from the hundreds of cards and letters we get each month, there are plenty of single heartthrobs walking around Music Row. We've asked a few of our favorite hosts from TNN: The Nashville Network who their favorite Hunkabillies are: Marty Stuart Birthdate: September 30, 1958 Sign: Libra Eyes: hazel Hair: black Height: 5 feet 7 inches Weight: 140 Favorite foods: fried chicken, East Indian cuisine, fajitas Favorite activity: photography Previous marriages: One. (Cindy Cash) What he can do around the house: "I don't know how to fix things. Can barely build a fire. Basically if you need somebody to OK the stereo and have some cool looking pictures on the wall, I can help you out there." Thoughts on relationships: "I'm a good friend. I'll give me that. I'm a low-maintenance friend; I don't require a lot of upkeep." Favorite love song: "High On A Mountain Top" (As I look at the valley down below, they are green just as far as I can see. As my memories return, oh how my heart did yearn, for you and the days that used to be. High on a mountain top, standing all alone. Wondering where the years of my life have flown). From Katie Haas: "Steeped in country music's greatest traditions, Marty Stuart is good, old-fashioned raw ability and FUN!" From Debra Maffett: "He's a one-of-a-kind country classic. He's a bundle of charm and talent all wrapped up in a Manuel jacket and Bo Riddle boots." From Shannon McCombs: "Yes, I'm 'Tempted'....'Touch Me, Turn Me On and Burn Me Down.' Did I just say that?" |
