Marty Stuart is
trying his hand at becoming a music-biz mogul with
the formation of his own label,Superlatone.
"I have reached a point in my life where I've asked
myself, 'What do I need? Another car, another pair
of cowboy boots, another Telecaster?' " he explains.
"It became a whole lot more important to me to be
true to the art and the vision and the spirit of
creativity than trying to chase a chart." Superlatone's
first release, set for August 30, will be Marty's
gospel album Souls' Chapel. He also plans to
release a bluegrass recording: Marty Stuart And
His Fabulous Superlatives Live At The Ryman,
as well as Badlands, which spotlights his
lifelong interest in the lives of Native Americans.
He's also finishing work on six books, three of them
photography collections.
