Marty Stuart had a down-home country reunion filled with food, storytelling, music and much hugging and kissing. "These are the best fans on planet Earth," Marty declared. His followers journeyed to Smiley Hollow, a rustic barn dance and hayride ranch near Ridgetop, Tennessee for their memorable afternoon.
Marty passed out presents to some of his most loyal fans after announcing, "I went shopping in my closet this morning." One fan walked away with an original Hank Williams belt buckle. Another, an antique knife. A priceless pair of moccasins went to another. Marty especially remembers those who supported him early in his career. "She gave me the seed money to start my first fan club. I love you, Pat Johnson." With that remark, Marty gave the overwhelmed fan his guitar! After a few fans joined Marty on hits "Burn Me Down" and "This One's Gonna Hurt You (For A Long, Long Time)," Marty introduced his wife Connie Smith, who sang "How Great Thou Art" to a standing ovation. After the performance, fans lined up for Marty's autograph and photos. Mary Starrett of Memphis, Tennessee claimed, "I was going to throw my underdrawers onstage so he could mop his brow, but I forgot to bring them." |
