Marty Stuart, 39, who started his professional career as a teen mandolin prodigy, knows his country history well--and is worried about what he sees. "The thing that's always made country music special is that it was such a diverse group of people, and it was such a wonderful statement of originality from American hearts," Marty tells Country Weekly. "I look at it now and watch and listen, and there's a whole lot of sameness because it makes it palatable to the mainstream. Well, that's going to get us so far--and then that's going to backlash on us." |
