Marty Stuart Scores Big In Tinseltown

This appeared in Country Weekly - December 2, 1997

Marty Stuart has developed an alternative career: soundtrack producer. His latest effort for the much anticipated film Primary Colors, directed by Mike Nichols and starring John Travolta. Marty told the Calgary Sun that he's collected a wide variety of music ranging from Mississippi Delta blues, Texas and Memphis music, rockabilly and country for the soundtrack.

Marty says his new venture's a refreshing change from "the game" of writing songs for radio. "When you're writing songs for a movie, often times you have the ability to relax and let the story flow and the music flow," he says. "It takes the pressure off."
