Grand Ole Opry star Connie Smith performed a brief concert Thursday (September 8) at BMI's offices on Nashville's Music Row to celebrate the recent release of her new Sugar Hill album, Long Line of Heartaches. Produced by her husband, Marty Stuart, the project was recorded at the historic RCA Studio B in Nashville and marks her first album release in 13 years. Smith and her band, the Sundowners, performed several songs from the album, along with her first hit, "Once a Day," which spent eight weeks at No. 1 in 1964. Among those joining Smith and Stuart at the party at BMI were Ricky Skaggs and Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame member Dallas Frazier. Smith is the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum's 2011 artist-in-residence. Her final performance in a three-concert series at the museum's Ford Theater takes place Monday, September 12.
