Connie Smith will release a new album of traditional country music, titled Long Line of Heartaches, on August 23, 2011 on Sugar Hill Records. It's her first album of new material since 1996 and only her second since 1978. Drawing upon her sound from the 1960s and 1970s, Smith recorded the new project in RCA Victor Studio B, where she often recorded early in her career. Smith and her husband, Marty Stuart, co-wrote five of the new songs. Stuart produced the album. In addition, Smith recorded "A Heart Like You," the first new composition in 30 years by famed Nashville songwriter Dallas Frazier. Her three daughters joined her on the contemporary hymn, "Take My Hand." Smith's signature song, "Once a Day," spent eight weeks at No. 1 in 1964. She joined the Grand Ole Opry in 1965 and continues to perform there regularly.
