Mississippi Honors Marty Stuart

The accolades continue to roll in for MCA recording artist Marty Stuart, a Mississippi native, who's being honored in Jackson, Mississippi with the Governor's Award for Excellence in the Arts. Stuart also took home his third Grammy last month in ceremonies in Los Angeles. "These awards honor those who have made a difference in the arts and culture of Mississippi and who have made a regional, national or international impact," said Betsy Bradley, executive director of the Mississippi Arts Commission. Past honorees include Eudora Welty, Morgan Freeman and Dorothy Moore. Stuart's talents extend well beyond the musical arts. He is a published prose writer and his photographs will be shown at Cheekwood's Temporary Contemporary Center in Nashville throughout the month of June. The artist's long-awaited album The Pilgrim will be released on MCA this June and is Marty's first solo album in three years.
